How can I import my project budget from an Excel template?

Creating a budget within Projectmates from scratch can be cumbersome, especially if you already have the project budget stored elsewhere.

To import the budget from Excel:

  1. Once in the project, under "Cost Tracking/Contract Mgmt", expand the Budget menu and open the budget.
  2. Click More in the top-right corner, and select Import/Export data.
Helpful Hint: If don't see 'Import/Export items' in the left-side menu under your budget thread name, then you don't have the proper authority to import the budget. If you are an Administrator, you can check your role in the project to see if it needs to be changed or recopy the template project into the project to update the role rights. If you are not an Administrator, please reach out to your Administrator for assistance.
  3. Click Export to download the Excel file.
  4. Update the file with your project's budget data, and save the changes to your computer.
  5. Back to Projectmates, click Select to select the Excel file you saved.
  6. To keep all existing items DO NOT select the check-box (Highly Recommended).
  7. If you wish to delete existing items in the budget upon upload, select the check-box for Delete all existing items on import (use caution)
Helpful Hint: Deleting existing items will remove links to any items from other modules, including Bids, Contracts, Purchase Orders, and Invoices. Only use this if you want to completely delete the budget and any existing linked items before importing a new budget.
  8. Click Import. Values from the spreadsheet will be imported to the budget.
