How do I create a capital project?

Creating a new Capital Project in Projectmates can be easily accomplished one of two ways. Users can manually create a new capital project directly in Projectmates or create multiple new projects via excel. Both processes are outlined below.  

Note: You must have Admin rights to the Capital Planning module in order to complete the steps outlined in this article.

Option One: Creating a New Capital Project in Projectmates

  1. Navigate to the Capital Planning module under Program Management
  2. Select Capital Project from the left side menu that appears
  3. Click the +Capital Project button in the upper right hand corner
  4. Enter in the required fields such as Name, Number, Start - End Date
    Helpful Hint: The details entered here are for planning purposes and can be adjusted as the project progresses. 
  5. Click Save
Note: Once you save your capital project additional tabs will be made available for attachments and ranking.

Option Two: Creating New Projects in Excel

  1. Navigate to the Capital Planning module under Program Management
  2. Click on the More button located in the upper right hand corner
  3. Choose the option for Import/Export
  4. Download the Projectmates excel template
  5. Fill out the required fields highlighted in blue along with any additional details in the white cells
    Helpful Hint: The required fields in excel (highlighted in blue) align with the required fields in Projectmates (red asterisks).
  6. From the same window that you downloaded the template from, use the select button to upload your file
  7. Click Import
Helpful Hint: Once you have your new project(s) created, you can start allocating funds to your project or linking your Capital Project to an active Project.
